Filters are one of the simplest ways to cut through clutter and see just the data you need. Saved views in Business Central let you store those filters so you can switch to them instantly without no rebuilding the same criteria every time you login to Business Central. Below you will find a quick, practical guide to creating, accessing, and managing saved views, plus a few keyboard shortcuts to speed up your daily work.
Table of Contents
Why use saved views
A saved view preserves a set of filters and makes it a one-click option.
Use saved views to:
Quickly switch between commonly used filters like open documents, a specific document type, or a range of dates/customers.
Reduce repetitive work when you frequently run the same search criteria.
Keep your workspace organized by hiding views you rarely need and keeping the most important ones visible.

How to create a saved view
Creating a saved view takes just a few steps:
Apply the filters you need. For example, filter to Open Documents and then to the Document Type of Credit Memo.
Click the save icon and give your view a clear name, such as Open Credit Memos.
Your new view will appear in the saved views list so you can toggle to it anytime.
Accessing and managing saved views
Once saved, views appear in the filters pane on the left. You can toggle among them to quickly change the records on screen. Click the three dots to the right of a saved view to perform actions such as:
Rename the view for clarity.
Remove the view when it is no longer needed.
Temporarily hide the view to declutter the list without deleting it.

Quick navigation from the top bar
If you prefer not to open the left pane, you can access saved views from the top navigation taskbar. This provides one-click switching without expanding the full filters pane.

Keyboard shortcuts and quick tips
A couple of small shortcuts make a big difference in daily speed:
Shift + F3 — Expand or collapse the Saved Views and Filters pane. Great for toggling visibility quickly.
Alt + F3 — Filter to this value when working with a specific field (handy when narrowing results by a clicked value).
Best practices
Name views clearly so you recognize them at a glance, for example: Customer — Open Invoices or Open Credit Memos.
Keep only commonly used views visible and hide the rest to avoid long lists.
Use keyboard shortcuts to minimize mouse travel and speed up repetition.
FAQ
How do I save the filters I just applied so I can use them again?
After applying your filters, click the save icon and enter a name for the view. The view is then stored in the list of saved views and can be selected whenever you need it.
Can I access saved views without opening the left filters pane?
You can select saved views from the top navigation taskbar, which lets you switch views quickly without expanding the left-hand filters pane.
What does Shift + F3 do?
Shift + F3 expands or collapses the Saved Views and Filters pane, helping you show or hide the pane with a single keystroke.
Is there a shortcut for filtering a column value directly?
Use Alt + F3 to filter the list to the currently selected value in a field — a quick way to narrow results to a specific item.
How do I rename, delete, or hide a saved view?
Click the three dots to the right of a saved view to reveal options to rename, remove, or temporarily hide that view.
Are saved views available to other users?
Saved views appear in the page for your account. If you need a shared or company-wide filter experience, check with your administrator about options for sharing reports, creating public views, or using role-tailored pages.
Final note
Small adjustments to how you filter and save views can remove repetitive work and give you faster access to the records that matter. Use names that make sense, hide what you do not need, and rely on shortcuts like Shift + F3 and Alt + F3 to keep your workflow moving.
