Updated: Nov 10

Microsoft has just announced an important update for all Dynamics 365 Business Central users: New pricing will go into effect on November 1, 2025. If you rely on Business Central to keep your operations running smoothly—or support clients who do—this is news you'll want to understand and prepare for.

Updated on 9/10/2025 - Microsoft is delaying these price updates from October to November, to allow additional time for partners to communicate global prices to their customers. New prices will now go into effect on November 1st, 2025.

Key Pricing Changes

Here's what's changing:

  • Base Essentials License: Increasing from $70 to $80 per user/month

  • Base Premium License: Increasing from $100 to $110 per user/month

This is of course the best available price, assuming you are on a yearly commitment, bill upfront, in full. If you are on a yearly commitment, billed monthly, Microsoft instated a 5% premium back in April. Additionally as before, if you are on monthly commitment, you will pay a 20% premium on the price mentioned above.

Why Is Microsoft Increasing its Prices for Business Central?

According to Microsoft, this pricing update reflects the significant enhancements added to Business Central over the years, with a strong emphasis on AI. While there have been quite a few recent updates, here are the main ones:

  • AI-powered Copilot in Business Central: Copilot was designed to ignite creativity and save time by automating your workflow and daily tasks.

  • Enhanced reporting capabilities: With the new analysis mode, users have access to a more responsive and adaptable way to calculate, summarize, and examine data.

  • Tighter integration with the Power Platform: Users now have the option to connect their data in Business Central to Power Apps.

  • A dedicated sustainability module: Organizations can start tracking their environmental impact, including monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, setting scorecards, and comparing them to target values.

Additionally, each licensed user will now receive extra storage, helping organizations manage growing data needs without additional hassle.

  • Essentials license: Increasing from 2GB to 3GB of storage per user.

  • Premium license: Increasing from 3GB to 5GB of storage per user.

📅 What Should You Do Next?

While a price increase can prompt budget reviews, it's also an opportunity to evaluate how your organization is using Business Central. Now is the ideal time to assess your current operations and identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency.

So, whether you're an existing Business Central user or considering a migration, it's necessary to lay out an action plan:

For current users:

  • Review your Business Central licensing renewal timing with your Microsoft partner. There may be opportunities to renew early or optimize your license count before the new prices take effect.

  • Evaluate your current usage: Are you leveraging the full range of new features, or are there opportunities to improve your business processes?

For new customers:

  • Lock in annual contracts before November 1 to take advantage of the current rates.

  • Explore the platform's new capabilities: From AI to advanced reporting, make a plan to utilize the latest features to strengthen your workflow and better your business.
